Friday, September 12, 2003

My time in Japan has been nothing but an eye-opening experience in more ways than I will ever know.  Thanks to everybody who was a part of it.

I'll be back home on Monday and then I go back to campus on Thursday, which means no more xanga entries.  For those of you who want to know what's going on in my life, you might actually have to contact me personally (oh the horror).  Until then...

Ja ne.

Last night: farewell party at Ginza Lion in Shimbashi ("the salaryman's sanctuary")
Good food and nomihodai - what else could you ask for?

Wednesday, September 10, 2003

Yesterday's menu:
- chanko-nabe (vegetables, meat, and seafood cooked in broth) in order to fulfill Ming's wish to eat like a sumo wrestler
- peach smoothie with boba from Pearl Lady

Ran into my supervisor on the streets of Shinjuku, and he was drunk (what a surprise).  This morning he comes into work and tells me that he was drinking until 3 in the morning.  What a good role model.

I spoke too soon.  The network was temporarily down this morning, so I had to resort to non-internet activities at work.  Fortunately, it is working now, and I am back in (limited) contact with the outside world.

Sleepless nights (recap of this weekend)

Friday
- Monja & okonomiyake in Monja Town (Tsukishima)
- First three episodes of Beautiful Life - good dorama!

Saturday
- Something's fishy at Tsukiji Market (anything and everything you can imagine from under the sea)
Shibuya
- Haircut @ ZELE
- Wandering the streets, shopping (Parco, Tokyu, etc.), and people watching
Shinjuku
- Milky mango berry @ Hub
- Sketchy all-night karaoke @ 747 in Kabuki-cho (Take a peek.)
(Highlight: When the girls passed out some time in the middle of the night, the guys decided to wake us up by serenading us.  Apparently, we slept through a bunch of songs, including Jeff's moving rendition of A Whole New World.  However, Eric and Jeff finally succeeded in waking us up by singing Hot in Herre and dancing topless.)

Sunday
- kinpira rice burger @ Mos Burger
Akihabara
- Electric Town
- Otaku madness
- Easy Way Boba
Harajuku
- Takeshita-dori
Ikebukuro
- dinner @ Negishi
Shinjuku
- Happy 7 @ Haagen-Dazs
(azuki, Belgian chocolate, cassis & cream, rich milk, mango, melon, & vanilla caramel brownie)
